As part of a broader e-learning course on data exfiltration, this module was designed to emphasize the significant impact of data exfiltration on companies and highlight how Exabeam's security platform can detect and respond to such threats. The objective was to move beyond static slides and numbers by creating an interactive and self-paced experience that effectively communicated the severity of data exfiltration and engaged learners in a meaningful way.
To avoid a passive, slide-based approach, this module incorporated interactive elements that allowed learners to actively engage with the content. It emphasized self-paced exploration and included supplementary resources for those interested in expanding their knowledge.
I conducted extensive research to identify real-world cases of data exfiltration that would showcase the different types of threats and their impact on organizations.
The selected cases were chosen to represent a variety of exfiltration methods, with the aim of illustrating just how devastating these breaches can be. These examples were woven into the module to provide context and realism, making the content more relatable and impactful for learners.
Given the tight timeline, I combined the prototyping and design phases into single review and iteration sessions. This approach allowed me to work quickly while refining the design based on client feedback.
Several layout and interaction styles were explored, each designed to reflect Exabeam's brand guidelines, including the use of color schemes and iconography.
The rapid prototyping approach enabled us to quickly refine the design based on feedback, ensuring that the module was both visually appealing and instructionally effective. By utilizing Exabeam's brand assets and adhering to the overarching design of the e-learning course, we created a seamless learning experience.
The review process with Exabeam stakeholders was efficient, with rapid feedback loops allowing us to make timely adjustments to the design and functionality of the module.
Once the design was finalized, the module was built out in Articulate Storyline, using Exabeam's brand elements to maintain consistency with the larger course. The interactivity and self-paced navigation were key elements in ensuring learner engagement.
The module was well-received by both learners and Exabeam's upper management. It was praised for being an engaging alternative to traditional video-based or slide-heavy formats, and the interactive nature of the module was cited as a strong instructional design choice.
